What Entrepreneurship means to me
For me personally, “Entrepreneurship” is linked to very strong feelings and experiences.
No matter which way you put it: Entrepreneurship always means movement!
It means making decisions.
Entrepreneurship always means creating something. Whether it might be improving an existing idea or creating something nobody else has tried before. Entrepreneurship is not just dreaming about things, but rather taking the necessary steps to reach them.
It’s being active. It’s being adventurous. It’s being really enthusiastic.
It’s using this enthusiasm and transforming it into strong efforts to reach your goals.
Entrepreneurship means making mistakes to learn from.
Sometimes Entrepreneurship means to fall down and fail, but to stand up and start all over again, now being richer in experiences.
Speaking of “failure” there’s a story stuck in my head: At my visit to the Facebook Headquarters last summer, I saw a motto written on a wall between lots of others which really stood out:
It simply read “Fail harder.”.
I found that compelling because it was so different from the most common point of view. I thought about it for a while and translated its meaning into: 1. No fear of failure, 2. The drive to work hard and 3. Taking inconvenient approaches to solve problems.
Entrepreneurship is rewarding: Always in form of experience, often in appreciation for achievements and sometimes also monetarily.
Entrepreneurship means aiming high.
Entrepreneurship means uniting people in a team striving for one mutual goal.
Entrepreneurship is fun. Entrepreneurship is hard work.
Entrepreneurship is awesome!

A sunny Sunday with my new Trek District Bike
A few months ago, a really nice bike caught my attention: The “vintage gray” Trek District.
I was browsing fastcodesign.com, reading some interesting articles when I stumbled upon “Belt Drives for Bikes take a Leap Forward“.
I found that technology I hadn’t heard of before very intriguing. It “replaces your standard oily, noisy bike chain with a totally silent, maintenance-free belt made of Kevlar, the same stuff used in bulletproof vests” – as they wrote at fastcodesign.com.
That way the Trek District really caught my attention, as they referred to it as an example bike. On trekdistrict.com – the “unofficial Trek Distrikt Blog” – I found lots of information and photos by owners, very helpful while considering this bike could be a good purchase.
The Swedish Form/Design Center in Malmö
At my little trip to Malmö from Copenhagen yesterday, I went to the “Form/Design Center”. They describe theirselves as follows:
“Form/Design Center is a meeting place for ideas in design and architecture. Here you will find a showcase of the very best contemporary Swedish and Scandinavian design.”
But it’s not just that, they’re doing much more! Continue Reading »
The Moooi Gallery Amsterdam (Interior Design)
The sales personal was really friendly and saw it as a matter of course that people are allowed to take photos of all their nice design objects. They really have many interesting pieces of furniture that are designed in a very unique fashion sometimes. I can’t say much about all the individual items. This is rather a blogpost that gives you some visual impression. Just enjoy the pictures I took! Continue Reading »
A few days in Copenhagen
As I am traveling a lot these days I haven’t even gotten to finish some blogposts about my recent trip to Amsterdam. But there will be some very interesting articles coming up, that’s for sure!
Copenhagen seems to be an interesting city, although – compared to Amsterdam – it’s not that packed with attractions. Awesome design comes from here, they have some very modern buildings as their Opera House for example and many other things to discover. It’s 2°C right now and I’m enjoying the sunny weather. Summer is probably more preferable for a visit, but I don’t really mind – I’ll just enjoy.
Only obvious disadvantage so far: Copenhagen is reaaally expensive.
I already had the chance to walk around quite a bit and took a look at Copenhagen’s famous icon, The Little Mermaid Statue (Den lille havfrue) on a rock in the harbour.

3 Days in Amsterdam
I’m in Amsterdam (Netherlands) for 3 days at the moment. I just arrived yesterday but my first impression is already a good one! I was able to get a very good easyjet offer for a flight from Basel (Switzerland) which isn’t far from home and am staying at a hostel now.
The only bad thing up to now? The weather! It’s just raining all the time.
I already had a look at some awesome Rembrandt paintings and others at the Rijks museum, went around many places of the city and got quite a good overview now.

Et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis!
Those Latin words mean “And on earth peace to men of good will” and appear in many classical christmas oratorios. I found them to be a good title for this blogpost!
Now we have christmas already and the year is gonna come to an end soon. For me this is the right time to look back onto the whole year and to acknowledge what a great time I had. It seems like this has been the most exciting year I had in a long time and I’m truly thankful for everything I was able to experience.
Many things happened: I graduated from school and an interesting new period of my life began to start. The most exhilarating event of the year was definitely to get admitted for Stanford Summer College and the opportunity to spend two months of my summer there and some holidays with my dad in Hawaii afterwards. I got in touch with so many people and made so many friends at Stanford. Continue Reading »
One week in Estonia
I’m blogging from the plane as I’m on my way to Estonia’s capital, Tallinn, right now. With me are almost 30 other members of my choir “Temporal“. I’m really looking forward to this exciting week with two concerts and many other activities on our schedule. We will sing a modern christmas oratorio by Estonian composer Urmas Sisask together with the well-known youth choir “Noorus“, which is conducted by award winning Raul Talmar. Back in 2008 we have been already visited by this amazing choir singing the same oratorio at concerts in Germany, France and Switzerland.
I’ve never been to any baltic country before. But Estonia seems to be quite interesting and is far ahead of Germany and many other countries if it comes to technology. As an example, free internet access is guaranteed to every single citizen of about 1.5 million in Estonia.

Video about Personal Fabrication and FabLabs
I just found this awesome video about Personal Fabrication that I had already seen quite a while ago. I really wanted to share it with you! You can see it as an addition to my essay about Personal Fabrication. I found that it visualizes really well how our future with FabLabs all around the neighborhood and Personal Fabrication technologies at everyone’s disposal might look like. A future I really like to envision and that won’t need longer than a few years in my humble opinion.
